Are you looking for a new challenge? Would you enjoy a technical role in the early life nutrition industry? We have a fantastic opportunity for a Product Change Technologist to be part of our talented and dynamic Product Change team based in Balclutha. As a key member of a team, you will be responsible for Technological assessment and development for all new base powder products industrialization.

 

Reporting to the Product Change and Technology Manager, you will support the factory in all new projects in Inno-way/SecureWay, new processes, maintenance, production, and quality. You will also contribute to local projects to improve performance.

 

Your responsibilities will also include (but are not limited to):

  • Lead and drive as a technical lead for nutritional basepowder formulation projects and processes
  • Manage new materials/recipes/process development and validation in factory until final handover from R&I to Operations
  • Production support regarding formulation, batching, rework, and material losses
  • Assess risks in base powder functionality and identify process levers to minimize such risks.
  • Continue improvement for base powder physical properties based on recipe formulation and processes.
  • Lead projects linked to process change: e.g. Capacity increase, process optimisation for energy savings, losses reduction.
  • Support factory audit preparations for topics related to Product Change Management (PCM) activities and ensure that SOPs are always updated.
  • Ensure ongoing product and plant process performance monitoring, data collection, and analysis.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams for the effective execution of projects.

  • Minimum guaranteed hours of work – 40 hours per week (Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM);
  • A competitive salary - the salary band for this role sits between $85,000 and $115,000 + 8% on target bonus with a stretch of 14%

About you

You are an experienced product, Process, and Formulation expert with cross-functional collaboration skills, sound technical skills, and an inclusive working style. Your prior experience in a fast-paced dairy/infant formula (spray drying) manufacturing environment handling a technical portfolio will be advantageous. You have a positive attitude, are easy to get along with, and have a natural flair for building rapport with great people skills.

To be successful you will also have:

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering/Food Science/Food Processing/Food Technology or related field
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing / Quality / Product Development, Nutrition/Food/Dairy industry is preferred
  • Experience in Product/Process Development or nutritional formulation
  • Excellent communication skills – written and verbal
  • Sound planning and organization skills with an ability to work with shifting priorities
