ABOUT THE ROLE - Te tūranga mahi

 

We have a fantastic vacancy for a strong Maintenance Technician to join our state-of-the-art production facility in Balclutha within a versatile team. In this role, you will take ownership of maintenance, autonomous maintenance training staff, training of engineering staff, spare parts criticality analysis, and spare procurements. You will also assist with project work to enhance plant capability and efficiency. Reporting to the Technical Lead, you will ensure maximum production quantity, quality, and compliance while supporting the policies, goals, and objectives of the company.

 

This is a permanent full-time position working a rotating shift of 2 days, 2 nights and 4 off with a total guaranteed 42 hours per week. 

 

You will:

  • Contribute to the achievement of a zero-harm workplace through active participation in health and safety programs.
  • Ensure high levels of awareness and understanding of all relevant health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance.
  • Keep accurate records and documentation, including booking parts out of the store and accounting for time spent on tasks in the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Assist the Maintenance Planner and Technical Lead to execute the maintenance plan and keep track of progress.
  • Act with a sense of urgency in dealing with incidents causing production downtime or wastage.
  • Coordinate engineering and electrical contractors to assist with maximizing plant uptime and minimizing costs.
  • Train production staff in basic maintenance tasks like lubrication and center lining.
  • Manage and optimize the preventive maintenance for critical assets to ensure the preventive maintenance plan adds value and remains cost-effective.
  • Identify equipment failure modes and help the Technical Lead and Maintenance Planner review the PM plan periodically.
  • Help with the rollout of new technology on-site for preventive maintenance or condition monitoring.
  • Take the lead on troubleshooting complicated issues and arrange for backup support from contracting and automation companies.

About you

ABOUT YOU - Mō Koe

 

You will have:

  • At least a Trade Certificate (Advanced trade preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years experience in the FMCG sector.
  • A high level of fault-finding ability and the capability to work and make decisions without supervision.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work as a team player.
  • Technical expertise in pneumatics, PLC, correct fitting procedures for rolling element bearings, instrumentation, pumps, valves, steam equipment, and computer literacy.
  • The ability to make sketches/drawings of parts for plant improvements and repairs.
  • Knowledge of CMMS, preferably SAP.
