In this role you will work within the European Milk Commercial Operations team (regrouping Belgium, France, Germany, Poland, Romania and Spain) and you will report to the EU Milk Commercial Operations Director. You will also have a strong local role in the Belgium local team, and you will be managing a team of 3 persons.

You and the team will ensure proper and optimal sourcing of Rotselaar factory, managing supplies (purchases) and excess milk (sales) of the plant depending on milk collect and manufacturing needs. Maximizing the value of surplus of milk and cream, optimizing the cost of deficits, and reducing the market exposure of dairy materials, have become priorities for the business in a context of high volatility of buy and sell prices.

As the Milk Planning & Trading Manager for Belgium, your function is to plan milk & milk derivates situation (excess or deficit) on different horizon (short term for the day-to-day operations / mid-long term for the sourcing strategy) to take the best decision on the milk market all the time.

Your missions will be the following:

• Define and deploy the sourcing strategy for the factory together with the local milk Director in charge of the farmers relationship. This strategy should be answering to a threefold challenge: secure sourcing, cost optimization, and sustainability.
• Be the key contact to make the sourcing of new businesses or new projects happen (launch of new finished products, new formulas, new ingredients…).
• Define and deploy the selling strategy on the cream excesses and maximize their value.
  Oversee the commercial relationships with the external suppliers and customers, lead the negotiations to execute the buy and sell strategy.
  Animate the local team and ensure the day-to-day operations ie ensure that the factory receives every day the milk and milk derivatives needed to produce and that the excesses are properly sold;

Ensure that the milk bill is always optimized:

• By running the internal solver and implementing the solver’s recommendation in terms of external sourcing and selling; and in terms of synergies between countries
• By improve the overall performance of milk through productivity projects.
  Improve processes & tools to gain in efficiency.
• Design, update & animate KPI around milk (financial and sustainability) performance.
• Manage the milk financial reporting for Belgium & support rolling forecast exercises.
• Be part of any project of the factory that could impact milk.
• Work closely with your peers in other countries to maximize internal milk synchronization and balancing opportunities leveraging our European operations footprint.
• To be successful in this role you have a master’s degree in economics or engineering school (or equal) and at least 5 years of experience within a supply chain, purchase or finance environment. A previous experience in the agriculture industry would be a big plus!

In addition, you:

• Have strong analytical, mathematical skills, and an appetite for tools,
• Have a commercial mindset,
• Have a first experience in management,
• Demonstrate leadership, high level vision, and business orientation,
• Strong agility and autonomy to handle complex and changing situations,
• Are fluent in Dutch, English. French would be a big advantage as well!
