About the job

We currently have an opportunity for a Quality Process Technician, working Monday to Friday with a start time between 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM, for 8 hours per day.

 

The Quality Process Technician role plays an important role in assisting the Company to achieve high standards of quality and food safety.  This role is part of a small, committed team and reports into the Laboratory Manager.

 

The main objective of this role is to systematically and, according to fixed procedures, execute controls on raw materials, on semi-finished products, on the process and on finished products to detect non-conformities. Quality and Food Safety Procedures and Instructions to be followed.

About you

You will be able to work using your own initiative, have the ability to prioritise and think ahead with strong communication skills and be able to solve technical and complex problems.

 

The following qualifications/skills are required:

 

  • Good laboratory techniques and physio-chemical analyses
  • Knowledge of microbiological analyses
  • Knowledge of current software (Excel, Word etc)
  • Previous experience in a Laboratory environment

 

Key accountabilities, deliverables & KPIs, impact on business results

 

Result area 1

 

Perform quality controls according to fixed methods and procedures:

  • Take samples in production area
  • Quality and Food Safety Procedures and Instructions to be followed
  • Prepare samples in the lab
  • Prepare the necessary reagents
  • Perform standard analyses while observing the fixed working methods, sometimes using complex automated analysis instruments – Protein, dry matters, calcium, pH, sediment, rest peroxide
  • Compare the results with the fixed norms
  • Water Analysis
  • Packaging checks

 Result area 2

  • Process the analysis results (in SAP or Excel, report these results and non-conformities to the QC-Manager.
  • Positively release finished products.

 Result area 3

  • Calibrate all necessary instruments according to fixed methods and procedures

 Result area 4

  • Proceed meticulously so that analysis results are reliable and accurate
  • Have a critical attitude towards the obtained analysis results
  • Hold any nonconforming products

 Result area 5

  • Perform sensorial analyses on (semi-)finished products
  • Take part in a taste panel, preferably as calibrated taster.

 Result area 6

  • Plate samples for TVC
  • Investigative work into nonsterile products

 Result area 7

  • Maintain order and tidiness in the lab and related areas (including the cleaning of instruments).

 Result area 8

Other Activities:

  • Take care of specific quality trainings to production personnel
  • Under the direction of the lab coordinator perform analyses on products using alternative analysis methods and instruments
  • Work in NIR implementation
  • Taking the lead on ad-hoc projects and trials

 Result area 9

Specific:

  • Microbiology experience minimum 8-months
    • Preparing samples for testing, streaking method, colony counting,
    • Confirmatory testing – Streaking colonies onto differential medium and subsequent confirmatory Vitek 2 analysis.
    • Microbial Identification – Using Gram staining and an array of Biochemical and Chromogenic tests.
    • Would be beneficial: rapid testing via VIDAS Immunoassay
  • Laboratory good manufacturing practices strong knowledge
  • Good Excel knowledge
  • LIMs system experience
  • Capabilities and aim to Training new laboratory staff.
