The Strategic Insights Analyst is a hands-on, execution-focused role responsible for delivering high-quality, commercially actionable insights to support business performance, growth, and strategic decision-making.
This role requires a strong analytical specialist who is comfortable working deeply in the data (customer, retail, shopper, consumer), owning reporting end-to-end, and operating with a high degree of autonomy.
The successful candidate will hit the ground running, taking full ownership of core analytics and reporting from day one, maintaining high standards of accuracy and ensuring insights are translated into clear recommendations that drive category and channel performance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Commercial Insights & Performance Tracking
• Deliver actionable insights to support commercial and marketing decision-making across categories and channels.
• Analyze performance using syndicated research (e.g., Nielsen, Euromonitor, Mintel) and internal data to identify risks and growth opportunities.
• Translate data into clear, commercial narratives that influence pricing, promotions, assortment, and channel strategy.
2. Reporting & Business Updates
• Prepare and continuously improve key business reports, including Market Share presentations
• Provide insight-led commentary for leadership and cross-functional forums.
• Ensure consistency, accuracy, and relevance of reporting outputs.
3. Business Planning & Innovation Support
• Support Strategic Portfolio Reviews and Annual Operating Plan processes through:
o Data-driven category and market sizing assessments
o Identification of growth drivers and risks
• Partner with stakeholders to embed insights into plans, targets, and initiatives.
• Support innovation pipeline development by identifying new launches, unmet customer needs and market gaps.
4. Performance & Stakeholder Engagement
• Lead or contribute to key business performance forums
• Provide clear performance tracking, insights, and recommended actions.
• Drive alignment across stakeholders on key business priorities and risks.
5. Deep Dive Analysis
• Conduct structured deep-dive analyses (e.g., category, brand, SKU, retailer or regional performance) to diagnose drivers of growth or decline.
• Provide clear recommendations to inform strategic and operational decisions.
6. Agency & Data Partner Management
• Support management of data providers and research agencies (e.g., Nielsen), ensuring:
o Data integrity and consistency
o Timely delivery of outputs
o Relevance of insights delivered
• Conduct ongoing data quality checks to maintain accuracy and credibility.
7. Insights Generation & Storytelling
• Analyze multiple data sources (syndicated data, internal sales data, shopper insights) to identify patterns and opportunities.
• Translate complex data into simple, compelling stories using clear visualization and structured communication.
• Support development of customer segmentation, shopper understanding, and channel insights.
8. Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Work closely with Commercial, Marketing, KAMS, R&I, Regional Head of SIA and Zone Team, to integrate insights into execution.
• Act as a trusted partner to drive fact-based decision-making across the business.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Education
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Statistics, Economics, or related field
• Postgraduate qualification in analytics or market research is advantageous
Experience
• 5+ years’ experience in market research, commercial analytics, or strategic insights within FMCG or retail
• Strong commercial experience with demonstrated impact on business performance
• Nielsen (or equivalent syndicated data) experience strongly preferred
Technical Skills
• Advanced Excel and PowerPoint
• Experience with data visualization tools & dashboards (e.g., Power BI) and syndicated data (e.g., Nielsen, Euromonitor, Mintel).
• Strong analytical capability with ability to synthesize multiple data sources
