The Global Category Manager – Renewable energy is accountable to lead the sourcing of renewable energy that reduce the emissions footprint of Danone in line with 2030 SBTI targets. She/He will develop and execute sourcing strategies for energy efficiency, renewable electricty, biomethane, on site renewable generations and renewable energy credits.   The scope cover emissions related to Scope 1, 2, 3.  This is unique opportunity to join a team that will drive the transformation and acceleration of Danone (CDP AAA climate rated, B corporate)  towards zero emissions. 

 

Key responsibilities: 

 

    Business Strategy /Vision:

  • Drafting and executing sourcing strategies for energy efficiency projects, renewable electricity (PPA, VPPA, on site generation, storage), renewable thermal (biomethane, on site biomass, hydrogen); designing and executing strategies to support the energy decarbonization of our suppliers.
  • This role is a global role impacting Danone EDP, SN, and Waters Businesses across all regions.
  • Total spend is approx. 200M€ (linked to the amount and lifetime of contracts) and contribute to reduce energy emissions by 47.2% in 2030 and move to 100% renewable electricity by 2030.

 

    Impact on Business Results

  • Significant impact on emissions elimination, COGS reduction, supply/service level, risk management.

 

   Process & Projects

  • Create ecosystem of energy developers, utilities, technologies providers suppliers from established suppliers and newcomers (eg. Start-ups)
  • Benchmarking across external parties and creating best in class practices
  • Develop sourcing strategies with short/mid/long term view
  • Develop and drive implementation of Sourcing Strategies for renewable electricity/thermal (scope 1 & 2), delivering energy efficiency solutions, guarantee supply security & compliance with financial and sustainability reporting
  • Co-build with various internal stakeholders and partners the roadmap to implement Danone sustainability commitments for supplier emissions (scope 3).
  • Develop Joint Business Development Plans with selected external partners, and lead the implementation.

About you

  • Education: Master’s degree in engineering (preferably environmental/energy)/ business related field or commensurate experience.
  • Min 7-10 years’ experience in Procurement/Environmental related roles, preferably in energy intensive corporate consumer/energy companies/consultants.
  • Strong analytical and negotiation skills.
  • Organization and planning abilities.
  • Equally comfortable with strategy building and zooming into details.
  • Understanding of sustainability impacts across value chain.
  • Knowledge and experience of key sustainability reporting standards (eg. SBTI, CDP, RE100..) is a plus.
  • Agility to operate in matrix organisation.
  • Synthesis and business acumen for strategic vision and impactful communication with senior stakeholders.
  • Leadership maturity, develop & empower people for sustainable results.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment.
  • Interpersonal skills, conflict management, influencing skills, and cross functional collaboration.
