About the job

As a Manager, Indirect Procurement, you will play a critical role in enabling business performance through the development and execution of strategic sourcing initiatives across key indirect spend categories.

 

You will lead category strategies, supplier relationships, negotiations, and cross-functional initiatives that deliver sustainable value, drive innovation, mitigate risk, and support Danone's long-term growth ambitions. Partnering closely with Operations, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Finance, HR, IT, Marketing, Legal, and Sustainability teams, you will ensure procurement remains a strategic business partner across the organization.

 

The successful candidate will balance cost, quality, service, innovation, and sustainability objectives while building strong stakeholder alignment throughout North America.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Category Strategy & Leadership

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies for assigned indirect categories across North America.
  • Build and maintain category roadmaps aligned with business priorities and organizational goals.
  • Conduct spend analysis, market intelligence assessments, and supplier benchmarking to identify opportunities and risks.
  • Establish and execute sourcing strategies that improve profitability, resilience, and operational effectiveness.
  • Drive Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) optimization across category portfolios.

 

Strategic Sourcing & Negotiations

  • Lead RFx activities including RFI, RFP, RFQ, supplier selection, and contract negotiations.
  • Negotiate commercial agreements, pricing structures, service levels, and contract terms.
  • Deliver annual productivity, cost savings, and value creation targets.
  • Ensure sourcing decisions align with procurement governance and compliance standards.
  • Collaborate with legal teams to manage contract lifecycle activities and mitigate commercial risk.

 

Supplier Relationship Management

  • Build strategic partnerships with key suppliers to improve performance, innovation, sustainability, and service delivery.
  • Establish supplier performance scorecards and business review processes.
  • Identify and develop alternative suppliers to improve competitive positioning and supply security.
  • Drive supplier-led innovation opportunities that support business growth and operational excellence.

 

Stakeholder Management

  • Act as a trusted advisor to business leaders and functional stakeholders.
  • Partner with Operations, Manufacturing, Engineering, Finance, Human Resources, Marketing, Information Technology, and Supply Chain teams to understand evolving business needs.
  • Facilitate alignment between category strategies and business objectives.
  • Lead cross-functional sourcing projects from opportunity identification through implementation.

 

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • This role is primarily performed in a remote office setting and requires the ability to remain in a stationary position (e.g., seated or standing) for extended periods.
  • The employee may be required to travel to Danone corporate offices and vendor sites as needed.

 

The salary range for this position is $76,000-126,000 USD. The exact salary offered will depend on several factors, including the candidate’s relevant experience, geographic location, internal equity, and market conditions. About you

The ideal candidate will bring a combination of education, experience, and skills that enable them to excel in this position. The following qualifications outline what we’re looking for, including both required and preferred criteria: 

 

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Engineering, or related field.
  • MBA, Master's degree, CPSM, CIPS, or equivalent professional certification preferred.
  • 8+ years of progressive procurement, strategic sourcing, or category management experience.
  • Experience managing complex indirect spend categories within a multinational organization.
  • Proven track record delivering measurable cost savings, productivity improvements, and supplier performance enhancements.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and influencing senior stakeholders.
  • FMCG, food and beverage, manufacturing, consumer packaged goods, or industrial experience preferred.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strategic sourcing and category management expertise.
  • Advanced negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Supplier relationship management experience.
  • Strong financial acumen and analytical capabilities.
  • Spend analysis and procurement analytics.
  • Knowledge of procurement systems such as SAP, Coupa, or similar platforms.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills.
