Vision of the role:

Serve as a leader, being an unbiased analytic and category management expert using the category management process as a decision platform for all initiatives designed to optimize category performance at the customer.   This role will be the subject matter expert of the category performance, the planogram process, and data associated with the category.  The Associate Category Manager works as a member of the Category Advisor Team to provide the resources needed to develop the category strategy to drive growth at the customer.  Work closely with the Senior Category Manager to define the vision of the category.  This position requires both data and business savvy, as well as effective communication and problem-solving skills to provide consultative category management to the customer.  Create compelling, actionable category reviews that will captivate customers, translate to strategies, and grow category sales. 

 

Key responsibilities

  • Become a thought leader and go-to advisor at the customer(s) by developing category reviews that translate to action plans, and executing the category vision to drive category growth
    • Partner with customer to understand their category vision and direction (e.g., Walmart’s Cat-Man 2.0)
    • Leverage category-specific experts at center for best category knowledge and newest category management insights
    • Category Expert - Delivers weekly category performance reporting and communication. Additionally, conducts regular business reviews focused upon opportunity identification through deep 4P analytics into narrowly defined immediate business problems to solve.
    • Provides consumer/market knowledge to meet the needs of the customer and oversees appropriate learning projects.
    • Leverages syndicated consumer and market data for the purposes of uncovering compelling insights
    • Leverages shopper and consumer insights in the development of category strategies and retailer relevant sell stories
    • Educate the customer on consumer and business category insights, including category reviews that influence customers to act
    • Use market and shopper research to build category knowledge, understand competitive market place dynamics and recognize shopper purchasing behavior that support building a customer-specific category story
    • Identify category trends, fair share opportunity gaps, and share of wallet and leakage opportunities that lead to customer recommendations

 

  • Contribute to planogram development process
    • Define customer-specific category planograms.
    • Identify merchandising opportunities and execute to capture these opportunities.
    • Participate all aspects of the planogram process.  This includes, data cleansing and loading, merchandising, and reporting.
    • Work with team to outline organization, processes and tasks that are structured and designed to deliver efficiently on clearly understood goals

 

The salary range for this position is $75,000 – $105,000 USD. The exact salary offered will depend on several factors, including the candidate’s relevant experience, geographic location, internal equity, and market conditions.  Danone North America additionally offers a performance-based bonus and has a strong benefits package including Medical, Dental, Vision, Prescription Drug Coverage, 401k Plan, Wellness Program, Life Insurance, Tuition Reimbursement, Flexible Time Off, and Paid Parental Bonding Leave, among other benefit plan options. About you

  • 4 year college degree in Business or related field (Finance, etc.)
  • 1-2 years previous experience in category management or within CPG industry with increasing levels of responsibility
  • 2+ Sales Analytics or Category Management
  • Prior experience managing / influencing people and relationships with retailer partners
  • Expert in syndicated data required, proficient in shopper/panel data and space management
  • Occasional travel
