Product Design & Development Manager Productivity

– Steenvoorde (59) – L9

 

CONTEXTE

Au sein de la Division Danone Specialized Nutrition, à proximité de Lille, l'usine de Steenvoorde est une usine clé fournissant des recettes complexes à hautes valeurs ajoutées : 350 salariés, 4 lignes de conditionnement (3 sur le liquide et 1 sur la poudre) et une tour de séchage. L'usine fait partie intégrante d'un réseau de 6 usines européennes travaillant ensemble sur les process et échangeant au quotidien des produits

 

MISSIONS :

Steenvoorde Supply Point has been equipped to produce in house Organic Dairy ingredients for our SN portfolio to deliver formulas that provide clinically substantiated health benefits to vulnerable consumers - infants, toddlers, elderly and patients.

For Specialized Nutrition R&I (SN R&I) division we are looking for a Product Design & Development Manager to join the Productivity team and lead the adaptive formulation of in house organic dairy ingredients

 

The Product Design and Development Manager is responsible for delivering reformulations, recipe optimizations, and other innovative strategies, that result in an optimized value/cost equation. The products must be holistically designed considering all business needs (consumer needs, nutrition requirements, COGS, etc), combining an FMCG and SN approach.

Main responsibilities :

From this pivotal position within Steenvoorde Supply Point you will be responsible for:

  • Delivering holistic products to the market in-line with project/product brief by being the R&I voice in cross functional project teams;
  • Product compliance with nutritional, sensory, physical and chemical requirements, fulfilling end user needs;
  • Run adaptive formulation :
    • Monitor raw materials nutrition data for each single production
    • Define & assess the optimal recipe for each single raw material batch to ensure full compliance of the finish good
    • Communicate pro-actively with the factory to update the system accordingly
    • Track together with quality the results and implement actions for continuous improvement
    • Monitor raw material trending data to assess key parameters that influence the nutrition profile & powder properties.
  • Co-creating a team atmosphere with a drive for continues improvement, excellence and knowledge capture within a business mindset;
  • Ensuring new and reformulated products can be implemented in production scale and that targeted product performance as well as operational efficiencies are achieved;
  • Working closely together with stakeholders in Supply Points, Quality, Procurement & Operations on trials and alignments on the final results;
  • Ensuring formulations follow robust design principles, risk mitigations are in place, and all documentation in line with SN way is completed.
  • Follow up after implementation to make sure that the launch is successful;
  • Capturing lessons learned (technical, ways of working, leadership) on completion of all activity

About you

ABOUT YOU

You are a team player who can easily connect with cross functional departments and strong in stakeholder management.

You have strong communication skills to communicate with all levels and can easily build effective working relationships. For this role it is important to have a proactive, hands-on attitude with a strong eye for detail.

In addition, you fit this role perfectly because you are/have:

  • A MSc./PhD degree in a relevant field (process, food, laboratory, Dairy Ingredients, etc.) and approx. 3 years of experience in R&I or PD;
  • A good understanding of consumer driven development (FMCG);
  • Proficiency using tools for (adaptive) formulation design, documentation, systems and processes are key to the compliance and quality aspect to the role
  • Proactive in work and communication
  • Ability to communicate professionally (oral) with French-speaking colleagues
  • Stakeholder management experience, strong networker (internal and external) and project management experience;
  • You have change agility, a business acumen mindset, result driven (based on technical expertise) and able to work autonomous;
  • You are a strong Team Player with a collaborative mindset;
  • Critical thinking and problem solving.
