The job is situated in the Kettering Production Plant, where plant-based alternatives to milk are made. The job is situated within the Maintenance department. The Maintenance and Engineering department at the Kettering Production Plant is responsible for all maintenance works within the entire Production and Logistics departments.
The production equipment and plants include, soya processing equipment, storage tanks, formulation equipment, steam supplies, sterilisers, filling machines, packaging lines including corresponding shut-off and control valves, etc.
The job holder’s responsibilities within the Maintenance department are three-fold. On the one hand, the job holder is responsible for performing Planned and reactive work, periodical inspections so that malfunctions, defects and/or unsafe situations are identified in time and lead the corrective actions. On the other hand, the job holder is responsible for executing scheduled maintenance works and for assisting in (part of the) modification and/or new construction works on equipment and plants. Finally, the job holder is responsible for repairing breakdowns on the production lines to minimise downtime and quality defects whilst working safely always. The job holder must undertake small CI projects, lead and drive 5S tasks, Calibrations, documentation updates and be active in the RCA process. Given the comprehensive working area, the job holder must have a broad knowledge of various technical disciplines. The job holder’s works are situated both in the production plant and in the technical workshop.

For the execution of the work, the job holder predominantly works alone in the field. If necessary, the job holder can ask their day and shift colleagues for assistance. For executing more specialist technical works, internal or external experts are appealed to. While executing his works, the job holder must always strictly observe the prevailing safety instructions. The job holder works in a Monday to Friday role. However, could be asked to work the 2’s and 3’s shift system if requested by the business.
The position is a day role working a shift pattern of 8.5 hr days 08:00 to 16:26 (the shift pattern may be subject to change given prior notice):

Remedying mechanical and electrical failures & defects in production equipment. | - Taking cognizance of breakdowns, usually directly by phone. - Locating the failures and their causes at the respective equipment, if applicable using test and measuring equipment; this may also include (dis)assembling (parts of) equipment/plants, if needed using scissor lift. - Assessing the nature and scope of failures and if it is necessary/possible to repair them immediately or create a notification. - Requesting/gathering the necessary tools and parts in the technical warehouse according to the relevant procedures, if needed using scissor lift. - Carrying out common mechanical or electrical repairs on site using different (hand) tools. - Execution of corrective maintenance works. - Consultation with the Engineering Team Leader in case of difficulties and if more specialist interventions appear necessary (e.g. concerning control technology). - Informing Production on the progress of repair works. - Having the priorities set by Production in case of more than one failure notification at the same time. | - Correct diagnoses of the cause of failures. Demonstratable experience within a fast-paced engineering environment in the food industry is a must. Preferably within high care food manufacturing of FMGC.
