At Danone, manufacturing the best products and supplying them to meet demand is a key driver for our plant teams.

The Distribution Materials Coordinator organizes and expedites the flow of materials according to production and shipping schedules or department priorities and compiles and maintains records.  Reviews production schedules and related information and confers with department leaders to determine material requirements to identify overdue materials and to track materials.

About you

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Ensure adherence to plant standards (including but not limited to GMP, AIB, FDA, IWS, Quality, Safety, Finance, ISO, CODES, Daily Direction Setting, Driving OE). As a fundamental piece of the organization, your responsibility is to participate in and own the implementation and deployment of IWS or related integrated work systems and corresponding pillars (Leadership foundation, Daily Direction Setting, Driving OE; Autonomous Maintenance; planned Maintenance; Focused Improvement; Education and Training; Environmental, Health and Safety; Quality; Organization; Supply Network; Early Equipment Management) with the objective of owning your space, owning your performance (Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Mobilization, Nature) and owning your continuous improvement.  
  • Requisitions materials and establishes sequential delivery dates to departments, according to job order priorities and material availability
  • Examines material delivered to production departments to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Arranges in-plant transfer of materials to meet production schedules
  • Computes amount of material required to complete job orders, applying knowledge of product and manufacturing processes
  • Compiles and maintains records, such as material inventory, in-process production reports, and status and location of materials
  • May arrange for replacement or credits on substandard material
  • Order Ingredients Materials to support production schedule. Ingredient Purchase Orders are placed per Vendor and by forecast within lead time requirements of each Vendor.
  • Confirm each Purchase Order that goes out to the 3PL is received properly and inventory transferred via MIGO for the transfer to the plant for use
  • Review inventory of materials when there is a production schedule change to determine the need to reduce or add to inventory and make the revision or place the order with the Vendors
  • Reconcile inventory to invoices/production reports and receive inventory into SAP
  • Perform month-end closing by completing all necessary processes in SAP, reconciling inventories at plant and 3PL locations
  • Maintain communication with other departments, management and employees and notify them of any problems and/or concerns
  • Contributes to a continuous improvement mindset, actively participate in identifying and correcting opportunities to improve processes including participation in the creation and documentation of Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions, the creation and maintenance of preventative maintenance standards, the writing of One Point Lessons, and participation in continuous improvement methodology events
  • Follow QMS, Good Manufacturing Practices and 5S methodology to maintain a clean, sanitary and safe work area, maintaining audit ready status at all times
  • Actively participate in Pillar activities (i.e. Quality, Focused Improvement, Safety, etc.) including but not limited to observations, inspections, and recommendations.
  • Report days on hand inventory of materials each week
  • Learn shipping function to be vacation relief as needed
  • All other duties as assigned or become evident

 

Qualifications

  1. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications and basic PC skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills within all levels of the organization
  • Proven decision making ability
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Prior experience working with SAP
  • Ability to work various hours and shifts
  • Able to work overtime when required
  • Flexibility
  1. Education and Experience:
  • High School education or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years logistics experience preferred, preferably in the food/beverage industry
  • Experience in procurement, production planning, and logistics planning preferred

 

Materials and Equipment Directly Use:

  • Various equipment to include hand tools, compactors and various cleaning machines
  • Office machinery including: computers/tablets, printers, fax machines, copiers, telephones, MVP, etc.
  • Software including: Microsoft Office including Outlook, Smartsheets
  • Industrial power equipment (forklift, scissor lift, pallet jack, etc.)

 

Working Conditions

Physical Demands: 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs, balance; stoop, kneel or crouch; talk and hear.  The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

 

Work Environment: 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is primarily exposed to a general office environment where the noise level is usually moderate.  Work can routinely be performed outside the facility to inspect trailers.
