About the job

Danone Specialized Nutrition is launching a major greenfield investment to build our next‑generation liquid nutrition facility. As the Health and Safety Lead onsite, the post holder will be responsible for ensuring the H&S planning and coordination related to the work site from preparation to completion. You will lead the Health and Safety workstream through design, planning, installation, integration, commissioning, performance testing and operational readiness, ensuring all requirements meet Health and Safety regulations and Danone standards.

About you

 

  1. H&S Planning, Design & Compliance
  • Preliminary identification of risks impacts and requirements, and assessment of technical and economical feasibility of preventative measures.
  • Ensuring all H&S requirements in the tender documents comply with all necessary Danone and external H&S standards.
  • Partnering with regulatory authorities to ensure H&S compliance.
  • Implement EHS policies, procedures & programmes.
  • Monitor regulatory updates and implement required changes across site.
  • Contributing to the Pre-Start up H&S Review (PSSR) and organizing the postmortem meeting.
  • Ensuring all the necessary documentation related to site safety and site maps is secured and maintained.
  • Assessment of H&S CAPEX.

 

  1. Audits, Inspections & Reporting
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure all documentation is to standard and audit ready.
  • Prepare and submit environmental reports.
  • Performing Risk Assessments, reviewing and approving Prevention Plans and preparing the Coordination Plan.
  • Preparing, communication and maintaining the H&S Documentation, H&S Procedures and Instructions.
  • Performing H&S audits at the work site.
  • Ensuring all site H&S regulations and procedures are strictly adhered to, both at site entry and during site access.

 

  1. Site Health & Safety Management, Training & Culture
  • Managing changes that have a significant impact on H&S.
  • Prepare and deliver safety trainings and inductions and champion behavioral safety programs on site.
  • Recording and investigating incidents and Health & Safety Events.
  • Deliver EHS training to staff onsite.
  • Promote safe working practices and environmental awareness.
  • Support safety committees and lead regular safety meetings.
  • Develop and implement improvement plans and preventative measures.

 

  1. Cross‑Functional Collaboration
  • Coordinate with Operations, Quality, R&I, Maintenance, and Supply Chain for H&S readiness, trial runs, and changeover planning.

 

  1. Operational Readiness
  • Develop/approve H&S SOPs, training materials, and plans as required.

 

  1. Decision Support
  • Provide structured updates on progress, risks, commissioning readiness, and mitigations to the Project Director and leadership team.
  • Support strategic and operational decision‑making with timely technical insights and data.

 

Education & Experience: 

  • Tertiary qualification in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Environment Engineering or a related field.
  • 10 plus years’ experience in Construction H&S management of projects greater than €50m and supervision of work sites within a Manufacturing environment (Food Manufacturing preferred)
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of local, national and EU Environment, Health & Safety regulations and compliance requirements.

Interpersonal

  • Strong leadership skills with ability to influence and coach at all levels and cross functionally.
  • Proactive approach, identify and manage potential risks.
  • Proactively drives a robust and rigorous safety culture onsite.
  • Excellent attention to detail and record maintenance skills.

 

Technical

  • Strong and demonstrable previous greenfield H&S site planning and design.
  • Experience working with regulatory bodies
  • Experience supporting audits or inspections
  • Strong data analysis skills (incident data, safety trends & areas of risk)
  • Knowledge of Sustainability or Energy initiatives an advantage
