The Laboratory Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, direction and co-ordination of employees across the Microbiology and Chemistry Laboratories. The Laboratory Manager will manage shift employees to achieve key business objectives.
Responsibilities
· Management of Laboratory Technicians across both the microbiology and chemistry laboratories
· Optimise rotas to ensure continuity and maximise efficiency
· Tracking performance against established KPIs
· Planning and coordinating the daily analytical requirements and prioritising work in line with business needs .
· Liaising with the Quality Manager in the day-to-day activities including the reporting of results in advance of daily operational meetings.
· Leading the Laboratory team to optimise their personal development, skills, competency, performance and efficiency.
· Co-ordinate Laboratory proficiency schemes and carrying our periodic Performance Development Reviews.
· Co-ordinate the collection of samples and despatch of same to 3rd party labs.
· Ensure that all results are recorded in Bamboo-LIMS in an accurate and timely manner.
· Work with Grading Officer to ensure BP QC release and grading is completed in accurately and efficiently .
· Ensure the Laboratory is in compliance with all required quality and food safety standards .
· Plan and lead Laboratory infrastructure type projects as required .
· Ensure method changes and developments are implemented in a controlled manner ensuring validation and training is completed as they need arises .
Responsible for the implementation of various Danone programs; as applied to the Laboratory Team and environment
· Responsible for Danone Internal Controls as assigned to you by the Internal Controller.
· Interface with HR in relation to employee relations issues.
· Update relevant HR systems for Laboratory team on a weekly basis.
· 2 years + experience in a quality management/supervisory role in the food/healthcare/pharmaceutical manufacturing industry is required
· Third level qualification in Food Science, Microbiology, Biotechnology or equivalent required
· Knowledge of quality and food safety legislation
· Proven track record in over achieving KPI’s and Operational Targets
· SAP experience highly desirable
· Computer Skills essential, Microsoft Office etc.

· Proficient numerical ability to record interpret and analyse key process data
· Proven problem solving and troubleshooting skills
Danone Nutricia Early Life Nutrition is a division of the Danone Group and the Macroom Supply Point is a strategic spray drying factory within the division as it is a major supplier of infant formula to other plants within the network.
