About the job

The Senior Production Scheduler is responsible for developing, coordinating, and maintaining effective production schedules that support customer demand, optimize manufacturing efficiency, and ensure on time delivery. This role plays a key part within the Production Planning team, working closely with Operations, Procurement, Quality, and Supply Chain partners to balance capacity, materials, and labor resources. This position is also responsible for monitoring schedule performance, resolving planning issues proactively, and driving continuous improvement in scheduling processes.

 

We are currently looking to hire a Senior Production Scheduler based in Mt. Crawford, Virginia!

Must be highly competent in displaying leadership abilities that help empower others to performance levels that contribute to the achievement of corporate, plant, and personal goals, a strong team player with an absolute commitment to safety and quality. Strong understanding of building processes and procedures is a must; includes ability to gain consensus and engage cross-functional work-teams. They must have enthusiasm that energizes and motivates associates

 

Key Responsibilities

As a key member of our team, you will play an important role in driving our mission forward. The following responsibilities outline the core expectations and contributions for this position:

  • Manage the development of the production plan by collaborating with Supply Chain Planners and corporate demand planning teams
  • Manage the execution of replenishment strategy for finished goods not produced on site through a Supply Chain Planner
  • Analyze data and trends to better plan people, equipment and materials usage
  • Collaborating with Customer Service and Logistics teams regarding status of supply
  • Collaborate with Transportation and Logistics team to transfer raw materials to production facilities and   finished goods from production facilities to distribution centers
  • Work closely with associates in production, Logistics, Maintenance, QA and Human Resources
  • Train, coach, mentor, and provide feedback/recognition to team and associates
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment for all associates and visitors. Ensures all safety rules are followed
  • Maintain lines of communication between associates and management
  • Support and deploy all plant initiatives such as: MOS (management operating system), TPM (total productive maintenance), Maintenance Excellence, SQF (safe quality foods), Daily Management Walk, Daily Milk Ordering Mtg, etc.
  • Reduce shortages and excess inventory by monitoring finished goods inventory levels at distribution centers and reviewing and revising production plan and shipping orders as needed
  • Maintain good relationships with production facilities and distribution centers by resolving issues and communicating relevant information to appropriate personnel in a timely manner
  • Ensure integrity of past productions and success of future productions by analyzing incoming data from production facilities and communicating with appropriate personnel at these facilities regarding issues and discrepancies. Work with QA to ensure quality and conformance.
  • Own respective QMS standard and execute all processes, including all documentation specification requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.  The employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and may be exposed to loud noises in the plant.  The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to extreme cold, risk of electrical shock and vibration.

About you

The ideal candidate will bring a combination of education, experience, and skills that enable them to excel in this position. The following qualifications outline what we’re looking for, including both required and preferred criteria:

Education & Experience:

 

  • High School/GED required, bachelor’s degree Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
  • 5 +years of experience in food and beverage production scheduling, production planning, or supply chain operations in a manufacturing environment and/or training
  • Expertise with ERP/MRP systems and advanced scheduling tools including SAP or CPIM
  • Experience collaborating cross‑functionally with Production, Procurement, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to support a team that is providing 24/7 coverage
  • Basic understanding of budgeting and cost control
  • Ability to select, coach, develop, engage and retain a team of employees
  • Demonstrate agility and flexibility within fast paced environments.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • High degree of initiative and ownership, as well as a proven history of delivering results while working with several different departments in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to multi-task and manager workload in a dynamic environment
  • Ability to comfortably interact with all levels of business
