At Danone, Manufacturing the best products and supplying them to meet demand is a key driver for our plant teams. We are currently looking to hire a Maintenance Manager based in our Eugene, Oregon (Springfield, Oregon) manufacturing plant! This plant manufactures our delicious dairy free --So Delicious--frozen treats! In this role, you will be responsible for the management of maintenance at the plant with a focus on predictive/preventive maintenance and machine reliability.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

  • Manages site maintenance team, which includes, though may not be limited to, maintenance supervisors, automation specialist/engineer, parts room clerk, and/or the maintenance mechanics.
  • Provides a positive role model for all plant personnel in the area of safety, quality, productivity, and exemplifying the Danone Behaviors.  Provides guidance, instruction and mentoring to the maintenance supervisors and staff.
  • Leads the safety, quality, and reliability efforts for the maintenance department and optimizes plant energy usage.
  • Directs maintenance prioritization, planning, and execution for the site in collaboration with production, quality, and engineering colleagues.
  • Coordinates facility maintenance and maintenance projects between engineering, contractors, and maintenance staff.
  • Oversees scheduling of work, developing and setting objectives, progress monitoring, and the evaluation of results.  This includes managing employee overtime and equipment reliability to achieve lowest maintenance costs for the plant.  Plans scheduled downtimes, shutdowns, and maintenance projects in coordination with peers.
  • Invests significant time on the production floor, understanding the issues.
  • Analyzes problems and/or trends in plant maintenance and recommends appropriate resolutions to minimize production downtime and increase operating efficiencies for all areas of the plant.
  • Communicates with the operating departments to maintain system awareness to identify process improvements and offers technical expertise for optimization of the process control systems.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly environment conducive to safe work habits and encourages employee accountability.
  • Responsible for resolving maintenance employee relations issues, involving HR as necessary. Drives accountability within the team and self to implement and follow Danone Integrated Work Systems (IWS) principles.
  • Provides training on key Daily Management Systems (DMS) to technicians, including evaluations and qualifications.
  • Drives culture change by leading the organization engagement survey results for your department.
  • Works with line management to prioritize improvement opportunities.
  • Ensures adherence to safety standards and regulations (WISER) to ensure a safe working environment.

    Performs any other duties as assigned or requested.

About you

 

  • You have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in an industrial or food manufacturing environment, with at least 5 years’ experience in a maintenance, engineering, project management, and/or production management role.  Prior leadership experience is required.
  • You have a high school diploma or GED, required.  A bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field is preferred.  Candidates without a completed bachelor's degree will need at least 10 years of related experience.  
  • You have previous experience leading in a continuous improvement/lean manufacturing and consumer packaged goods industry.
  • You have demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills and demonstrated understanding of predictive and preventive maintenance programs and work order systems.
  • You have demonstrated fundamental skills in influencing and persuasion.
  • You have demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated ability in interpersonal skills associated with developing trusting relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and multitask.
  • You have demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, SAP, MVP, and other company software packages.
  • You are able to support a 24/7 manufacturing plant, which may include day or night schedules and/or weekends, as business needs dictate.
