About the job

The Logistics and Performance Senior Manager will be responsible to build and lead best in class Logistics Operations acknowledged by the medical customer base for both US and Canadian markets. The candidate will lead and manage physical logistics flows: Warehousing, transportation whether insourced or outsourced, as well as all related inventory functions. The candidate will also be responsible for identifying, implementing and managing productivity as well as devising and leading continuous improvement initiatives. They will be able to set the strategy for end-to-end supply chain as well as execute their strategy tactically.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the management of all physical flows (raw, packs, semi-finished or finished products) including traceability for all channels (Business to Business and Business to consumers and Health Care Professionals)
  • Define / review / implement the physical distribution strategy (in sourcing or outsourcing, number and location of warehouses, transportation means, distribution schemes…) and ensure that it meets all the contractual obligations to our customers
  • Develop and deliver warehouse and logistics operations tailored to specific customer segments to include Retail partners, Ecomm partners, wholesalers, and various HCPs.
  • Work cross functionally with internal contract stakeholders to meet or exceed logistics and delivery performance of strategic Nutricia customers
  • Perform RFPs for warehousing, distribution, and logistics in accordance with Danone standards, to include not only the Nutricia brand but other Danone North America Medical Nutrition brands as well
  • Improve reliability and cost effectiveness through co-negotiation with suppliers (in relation with internal buyers)
  • Own warehousing and transportation costs – including monthly detailed spend analysis versus latest estimates, research and explain variances as well as quantify / monitor productivity against set targets
  • Own the relationships with all 3P warehousing vendors, logistics / freight vendors and brokers, parcel service shippers
  • Lead business reviews with 3rd party providers to continuously improve performance on cost to serve, quality, and service to our customers
  • Design and implement continuous improvements programs across the entire end-to-end supply chain network
  • Manage supply chain costs and vendor management through vendor set up, PO set up, billing, and invoicing
  • Work cross functionally with internal contract stakeholders to meet or exceed logistics and delivery performance of strategic Nutricia customers
  • Perform distribution tender management and sourcing intelligence based on market knowledge in close cooperation with internal buyers
  • Own the distribution logistics and sourcing process (channel, customer centric) including the ownership of Medical Nutrition Standards Application such as HACCP, DANGO, WISE
  • Proactively manage and drive quality standards along the entire downstream Operations with the quality departments to ensure compliance with the highest quality standards. Facilitate quality audits carried out by 3rd party or internal auditors and ensure that additional action plans are incorporated into the overall improvement programs with providers
  • Ensure all Warehousing and 3PL partners pass required audits / certifications (such as Internal Controls, Quality Food Safety, FDA, Organic etc.) as well as develop and execute actions plans for improvement based off audit results
  • Lead implementation of Operations process and system developments that deliver organizational efficiency and the best experience to our customers.
  • Document logistics SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures) and ensure compliance with Danone compliance standards (DANGO)
  • Support the launch of new businesses and new products as necessary with first time right execution
  • Manage carbon monitoring and reporting for North America logistics operations, as well as identifying and implementing initiatives to reduce or offset carbon emissions
  • Organize, manage, and develop direct team, including developing plans for succession planning
  • Create and implement an organizational design structure that addresses logistics and delivery operations, order management, 3PL management, claims processing, and cost control, tracking, understanding, and reduction
  • Design and implement process improvement initiatives aimed at increasing efficiency, adopting automation, lowering costs, and increasing customer satisfaction
  • Develop reporting suites that give the business meaningful insights in order to make decisions quickly
  • Partner with other Danone North America Medical Nutrition companies to decrease redundancy, strengthen cost savings, and accelerate topline growth
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage on new technologies to improve first time right and drive efficiencies

 

The salary range for this position is $120,000-170,000 USD. The exact salary offered will depend on several factors, including the candidate’s relevant experience, geographic location, internal equity, and market conditions.  Danone North America additionally offers a performance-based bonus and has a strong benefits package including Medical, Dental, Vision, Prescription Drug Coverage, 401k Plan, Wellness Program, Life Insurance, Tuition Reimbursement, Flexible Time Off, and Paid Parental Bonding Leave, among other benefit plan options. About you

  1. Functional skills and knowledge

 

    • 10+ years of experience managing 3rd party logistics providers / distributors / transportation
    • Experience with retail, ecomm, and medical distributor logistics requirement
    • Experience managing operations regulated under the FDA / USDA, and Organic compliance
    • Strong experience in developing and implementing supply chain strategies as well as value creation initiatives
    • Strong track record on performance and total cost management, with track record of cost out and value in, including route to market and cost to serve
    • Experience in order and inventory management
    • Proven track record on customer and supplier collaboration
    • Very strong knowledge of supply chain processes and applications
    • Strong project management and cross functional team management
    • Experienced in medical nutrition or consumer packaged goods or supplements

 

  1. Managerial skills and abilities

 

    • 5+ years in direct team management  
    • Strong leadership skills
    • Strong ability to deliver on commitment
    • Excellent interpersonal / communication skills
    • Ability to brief and present to executives
    • Enterprise business partner that has helped enable topline acceleration through logistics solutions
    • Influencing skills – aligns all components of the Supply Chain to meet overall goals. Negotiates solutions which best respond to customer needs and supply chain targets
    • Ability to manage organizational changes
    • Strong computer skills and systems knowledge (MAS or SAP strongly preferred)

 

Supervisory responsibilities:  
3 direct reports (with a total team of 3-4 people)

 

Working conditions:
Job is performed remote work from home as well as in an office environment.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Degree in Logistics management, Business Administration or similar field
