About the job

The Senior Sourcing Manager – Manufacturing Services and Energy will be based in our White Plains, NY or Louisville, CO office and directly reports to the Director of CapEx, Industrial Services and Energy Procurement. This role is responsible for developing, leading, and executing sourcing strategies across North America (United States and Canada) for Manufacturing Services and Energy categories. This role owns a complex procurement portfolio that includes but not limited to MRO and spare parts, maintenance services, manufacturing consumables, lab services and supplies, utilities, and energy-related categories supporting Danone's manufacturing operations as well as the Energy portfolio.  This role involves selecting and managing suppliers, optimizing costs, and supporting business objectives throughout North America (United States and Canada) through effective supplier management and data-driven decision-making.

The Senior Sourcing Manager will also serve as the primary relationship manager for Danone's outsourced buying desk partner and key global procurement counterparts, driving best practices, compliance, performance management, and continuous improvement across the category. The successful candidate will support, collaborate, and implement sourcing strategies for assigned categories; work to increase spend visibility and understanding; and drive business growth by identifying and implementing partnerships with retained suppliers to enhance industrial services and supply propositions.

  • Support, collaborate and implement the sourcing strategies for respective categories.
  • Support activities to increase spend visibility and contract management.
  • Support growth through identification and implementation of adapted partnerships with retained suppliers, to improve industrial services and supplies proposition.
  • Create internal and external synergies by identifying opportunities and maximizing TCO (Total Cost of Ownership).
  • Facilitate and drive sourcing decisions through development and implementation of appropriate tools and processes.
  • Define sourcing strategy through market studies to identify best practices, identify gaps, risks, and opportunities
  • Identify new suppliers and develop a robust supplier base.

Category Strategy and Leadership

  • Develop, align, and execute category sourcing strategies for Manufacturing Services and Energy categories across North America in alignment with Operations, Engineering, Plant Directors, Utility Managers, Maintenance Managers, and Finance.
  • Partner with Operations, Engineering, Plant Directors, Utility Managers, Maintenance Managers, Finance, Sustainability, and Legal to develop long-term sourcing strategies that support business objectives.
  • Conduct market intelligence, industry benchmarking, and supplier assessments to identify opportunities, risks, innovation, and best practices.
  • Lead sourcing activities that optimize Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), improve service levels, reduce risk exposure, and enhance operational performance.
  • Drive procurement transformation initiatives and continuous improvement programs across assigned categories.
  • Support and influence strategic decision-making through data-driven insights and business case development.

Energy Procurement & Utility Management

  • Lead sourcing and supplier management activities for energy and utility categories, including electricity, natural gas, water, wastewater/sewage, and other utility-related services.
  • Monitor energy markets, regulatory developments, sustainability trends, and supply risks to proactively identify opportunities and mitigation strategies.
  • Recommend sourcing solutions that balance cost competitiveness, supply reliability, environmental goals, and regulatory compliance.
  • Develop and implement energy procurement strategies in partnership with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment with operational requirements and sustainability commitments.
  • Manage supplier performance and contractual obligations to ensure uninterrupted and reliable utility services across manufacturing sites

Supplier Relationship Management 

  • Lead supplier selection activities through RFP/RFQ (Request for Quotation/Proposal) events, competitive bidding processes, market evaluations, and supplier negotiations.
  • Establish supplier governance processes for strategic suppliers, including performance scorecards, quarterly business reviews, corrective action plans, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to drive innovation, service improvements, capacity planning, risk mitigation, and value creation.
  • Evaluate supplier capabilities, financial stability, and operational performance to ensure long-term business continuity.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to identify productivity opportunities, sustainability improvements, and process optimization initiatives

Impact Management:

  • Inside Danone: create trust and synergy within the different business units and industrial teams to implement sourcing strategies efficiently. Support manufacturing teams with enterprise projects or crisis solving situations.
  • Outside Danone: create strong, trusting relationships with applicable suppliers, to leverage knowledge, skills, and innovation capabilities.

Commercial & Contract Management 

  • Lead commercial negotiations for strategic sourcing initiatives and supplier agreements.
  • Manage overall spending for assigned categories.
  • Establish the budget along with Operations and manage risks for respective areas through work with Finance, Maintenance, and Engineering stakeholders.
  • Draft, negotiate, and implement contracts in collaboration with Legal and business stakeholders.
  • Ensure contract compliance, service-level adherence, supplier accountability, and performance monitoring.
  • Manage dispute resolution, claims management, supplier escalations, and commercial risk mitigation activities

Project Management and Procurement Operations

  • Single Point of Contact and lead the governance and performance management of Danone's outsourced buying desk operations.
  • Lead the rollout of the inventory management to P2P system integration at remaining plants in collaboration with Operations, Global and Local C&P, Systems and Process, and IT.
  • Support large-scale sourcing projects while ensuring compliance with procurement policies, budgets, timelines, and quality expectations.
  • Participate in regional and global procurement initiatives focused on value creation, supplier harmonization, and process standardization.
  • Monitor project execution and supplier commitments, proactively identifying and escalating risks when necessary.
  • Develop effective collaboration models between suppliers, procurement, and business stakeholders to support enterprise objectives.
  • Create executive-level presentations, dashboards, and performance reports for senior leadership.

The salary range for this position is $116,000-167,000 USD. The exact salary offered will depend on several factors, including the candidate’s relevant experience, geographic location, internal equity, and market conditions.  Danone North America additionally offers a performance-based bonus and has a strong benefits package including Medical, Dental, Vision, Prescription Drug Coverage, 401k Plan, Wellness Program, Life Insurance, Tuition Reimbursement, Flexible Time Off, and Paid Parental Bonding Leave, among other benefit plan options. This role is considered a “hybrid” position that allows for flexible work, meaning it is a role where collaboration with key stakeholders in Danone Hubs occurs. While you may have the option to work from home on a schedule as agreed to with your supervisor, you are also expected to regularly report to your assigned office location at least 3 days per week.

About you

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or a related field of study
    • Professional certification in Purchasing, Supply Chain, or Project Management is a plus.
  • Must have 7+ years of related experience in Procurement or Supply Chain
    • Experience in in CPG company or related dairy experience preferred
    • Experience sourcing industrial, manufacturing, MRO, maintenance, utilities, energy, or indirect services categories.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced cross-functional, multi-cultural, matrix environment.
  • Ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives and lead change by engaging people.
  • Thorough understanding of contractual terms and conditions.
  • Proactively anticipates issues/opportunities & can work through multiple simultaneous projects prioritizing competing objectives appropriately.
  • Excellent negotiation and problem-solving skills.
  • Dispute resolution and claims management experience.
  • Proactively communicate with management and all key stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skillset (i.e., expert/advanced proficiency within Microsoft suite, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
  • Rigorous data analysis capability and financial acumen.
  • Build and manage dashboards and communicate these to internal stakeholders and senior level leadership.
  • Strong desire to achieve results.
