About the job

We have a fantastic new opportunity for a Packaging Technologist to join our talented Research & Innovation team based in Auckland on an 8-month fixed-term contract. In this role you will drive the delivery of key packaging projects like new packaging development, improvement, compliance, productivity and secure supply ensuring they land on time, on quality and on budget.

 

Reporting to the Packaging & Performance Manager, you will lead the packaging workstream from brief through to implementation on the production line, partnering with cross-functional teams across our Specialised Nutrition business.

 

Your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Lead packaging development projects end to end from brief and specification through validation to implementation on line.
  • Deliver pack improvement, productivity, compliance and secure supply projects with cross-functional teams.
  • Bring a sustainability and quality mindset to every packaging project.
  • Coordinate factory trials, interpret results and compile technical documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with global and local packaging standards, tools and procedures.
  • Manage project risks and support cross-functional problem solving on packaging matters.
  • Spot innovation opportunities and share best practice across ANZ, suppliers, universities and design partners.

About you

You are a curious, collaborative packaging professional who enjoys owning projects from start to finish. You influence with ease, work inclusively, and thrive in a fast-paced FMCG or food manufacturing environment.

 

To be successful you will also have:

  • A tertiary qualification in Packaging Engineering, Packaging Technology, Food Technology or a related field.
  • Ideally 2–3 years’ packaging development experience in R&D or operations, preferably in food manufacturing.
  • Experience in a highly regulated industry; knowledge of the packaging development process is a plus.
  • Strong project management skills, with rigour, accuracy and high standards of delivery.
  • Excellent communication, planning and organisation skills, with the ability to flex as priorities shift.
  • A team-first approach and willingness to travel approximately 10% of the time.
