We are currently looking to hire a Lead Maintenance Mechanic based in our Chatsworth, California manufacturing plant! In this role, you will be responsible for ensureing operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing corrective and preventive maintenance requirements on various types of industrial equipment including motors, pumps, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions. 

 

In this role, you will be responsible for: 

 

  • Perform all Maintenance Mechanic tasks, assignments, and functions. 
  • Follow the appropriate escalation plan plant issues to ensure proper communication and support. 
  • Promote a positive team atmosphere and champion involvement of all employees. 
  • Coordinate and lead all maintenance type work during your designated shift. 
  • Observe the daily and past manufacturing process and communicate and/or implement improvements to the operation. 
  • Install, examine, inspect, maintain, and repair machinery, equipment, physical structures PLC & PID controllers and pipe, and electrical systems and train other Technicians. 
  • Works with Operations, and Maintenance Supervisor to identify areas of opportunity to schedule work during periods of downtime.
  • Promote a positive team atmosphere and champion involvement of all employees.
  • Coordinate and lead all maintenance type work during your designated shift, and sustain safety and a high quality of work.
  • Observe the daily and past manufacturing process and communicate and/or implement improvements to the operation.
  • Communicates effectively with Leads, OPEX Leaders, Production Leaders, Reliability Leader, Engineering, and other colleagues.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Physical Demandsz; While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs, balance; stoop, kneel or crouch; talk and hear.  The employee will lift and/or move up to 60 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.  

Work Environmentz; Working Environment Work is performed throughout the facility. Potential hazards include proximity of moving machinery, chemical exposure, noise, or heavy lifting. The position may require an individual to stand, stoop, move equipment; bend, reach, or lift for prolonged periods of time. PPE includes safety glasses, hearing protection and Safety Toe footwear.

About you

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED). 
  • Possess 2-4 years of maintenance experience in a food production/manufacturing environment, repairing and troubleshooting mechanical issues on packaging and/or filling equipment, and other food processing equipment. 
  • Electrical / Mechanical Background necessary. 
  • Apprenticeship program or technical background preferred. 
  • Proficient computer skills including MS Word & MS Excel. 
  • Possess 3-5 years of experience with computerized CMMS work order system preferred. 
  • Experience with high-speed production equipment. Previous dairy, food and beverage industry maintenance experience strongly desired. 
  • Experience in a combination of the following areas: PLC, instrumentation, pumps, mechanical, pneumatic, motors, electrical, hydraulic, lubrication, HVAC, refrigeration, freezers, compressors, utilities, and boilers. 

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

 

      Knowledge: 

  • Knows all the safety rules, plant rules, GMP, and code of ethics and follows them strictly at all times. 
  • Knowledge of the risk of cross-contamination, basic chemical properties, and specific information of allergens in plant. 
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods. 
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance. 
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. 

 

Skills: 

  • Ability to follow procedures 
  • Knowledge of sanitation, safety, and allergen requirements 
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. 
  • Handle chemicals in an appropriate manner 
  • Ability to climb a ladder 
  • Ability to read and understand safety instructions and labels in English 
  • Teamwork skills 
  • Ability to complete measurement conversions 
  • Ability to work extended hours and weekends 
  • Effectively communicate specific information using written (or digitally), verbal, and simple hand signals to team members, leads, customers, supervisors, and state officials in a noisy environment 
  • Conducts business in a professional and respectful manner
